As the masses all steer themselves to the betting shops for their annual crack at the biggest race of the year, it is surely luck that accompanies them as they pick out their Auntie’s dogs name, or because the horse sounds like that holiday we took back in ’86!
There are two camps when it comes to the National. Those that genuinely believe that hours of research will lead them to winner. Then there’s those that feel it is just a lottery and polish their pin to help them find that elusive winner.
Although I’m more inclined to join in with the latter camp as 40 horses running over some of the toughest fences in the world can lead to all sorts of trouble in running, I do believe that a degree of logic can be applied and at least if the winner is found we can then congratulate ourselves on having cracked one of racing’s biggest puzzles.
So having had great success over the last few weeks with Profit Recall I felt that applying its logic to the National would be a fitting tribute to the system. Only if it picks the winner of course! Although it might not reward us with the glory of profit, at least it’s quickly and efficiently shown me what might be some strong qualifiers.
So here’s the screenshot that we’re faced with upon opening up the software –
Took two screen shots such is the largeness of the field 😀
So I copy and pasted the 40 runners and applied them to the spreadsheet that is available to members upon signing up to Profit Recall.
This is what that looks like –
So the top three contenders are –
- Triolo D’Alene
- Double Ross
Something worth noting here is that despite the spreadsheet showing us that we have value on our side, using the currently available odds, the probability of each horse is still massively low. Triolo D’Alene is still a 31/1 shot using the prices created by Profit Recall.
I appreciate that value is a lost and almost irrelevant concept when we’re betting on a once a year event but with Profit Recall we know that the above three horses have been selected because an accumulation of 1,000’s of ratings have determined that today’s conditions will suit and apply to the horses strengths.
They just need to tackle the other 37 horses and 40 rather large obstacles to be in with a chance!
For what it’s worth as I close this article is my 1 year old daughter just pointed to Morning Assembly so maybe I’ll just put my £2 each way on that 😀
You can check out Profit Recall here and get it remarkably cheaper as we’re still in Beta mode….
