Live Blogging – British Champions Day 2014

Welcome to the Race Advisor’s live blog for British Champions Day 2014. From 12:30 I will be blogging live race analysis and conversation to see if we can find the winners at Ascot throughout the days racing. This is an interactive event and you can chat with me by clicking on the Comments link under each of our live blog posts.

This is a free event, but if you’d like to make a donation to cover the running costs then you can do that here.

Michael Wilding

Michael started the Race Advisor in 2009 to help bettors become long-term profitable. After writing hundreds of articles I started to build software that contained my personal ratings. The Race Advisor has more factors for UK horse racing than any other site, and we pride ourselves on creating tools and strategies that are unique, and allow you to make a long-term profit without the need for tipsters. You can also check out my personal blog or my personal Instagram account.

  1. I have given up trying to make a profit but have a great sentimental attachment to the horses, riders, trainers. I look forward to listening in on the ideas of those of you still engaged in the quest for an edge.

  2. i think the ground will play a major factor, and the draw in the big fields today, and i think the Irish are ready to nick our doe they look strong

  3. for value pallister, and estimate to beat leading light on what ive read today, and seen today queen ascot moore ground

  4. Pallasator for me but I think Forgotten Rules will be strong, a bit of an unknown but serious potential and definitely one for the future

  5. Leading Light,,,Pallasator ,,Marzocco ,, first two win bt — allways take the outsided to place…..

    Tricast .- Pallasator – Leading Light-Estimate –

    That my lot….

  6. Whiplash Willie e/w for me. Hopefully he can break the Irish stranglehold on this race (they’re three out of three) with eight of the last 12 winners being of his age or over. So even before the rain, this is a tough scrap for experienced stayers.

  7. Dyslexic first post, however made a small profit on place.
3rd choice in basic Monte Carlo.

  8. In the 2:20pm at Ascot Maarek for me. Maarek won this race in 2012 in soft ground with Jamie Spencer on board who takes the ride again today (Specner is 2 from 3 on this horse). Has also won the Prix De L’Abbaye (Group 1, soft ground) in 2013.He’s a soft ground specialist with all 12 career wins coming in good to soft ground or worse, so I think will go well in these conditions. And 8 of his 12 career wins have come over this trip.

  9. Basic MC gives

    1 G Force
    2 Gordon Lord Byron
    3 Tropics
Factoring in going, No2 Gordon Lord Byron is my bet ew.

  10. Hi Michael. Are you using techniques similiar to those in your Race Ratings Pro product to rate these horses today? i really must go back and look over that info again, was really good

  11. Mine for the 2:55 is Pollyana e/w. In France has won 8 of her 20 starts making the top 3 places in 13 of those 20. A Group 2 winner at this time last year and has raced in a pair of Group 1 races this year, including when just 2 lengths behind Cirrus Des Aigles. 6 of her 8 career wins have been in soft ground or worse – ie enjoys cut in the ground. Based pedigree should handle distance. Trainer has only ever sent 4 horses to the U.K. which is interesting. William Buick has the ride.

    1. Don1t think Cubanita will relish the going and worried about her ability in this type of company

  12. 1605 MC
    1 Ruler Of The World
    2 Free Eagle
    3 Npble Mission
    Noble Mission EW

No selection for last race Charge of The Light Brigade.

  13. 3 stats no horse in last 10 running’s above 9-3,none older then 5 years, and in the betting,no winner above 11/2,that leaves 4 top 3 in betting and tooremore at 24

  14. Custom Cut is looking for its 6th win in a row, but the step up to grp 1 class may find him out here, going has no concerns for him, but yet again going to lay it with hope of a nice trade out in-play.

  15. Pethers Moon e/w for me in the big one. 25/1 at the moment. Has looked very strong on deep ground over 1m 4f in Group 2 and Group 3 and will be staying on when some of these 10-furlong types have weakened. STake saving bet on Free Eagle as well.

  16. Despite the going being an unknown for Free Eagle here this horse is still open to improvement at 11/4 slightly short odds but will have touch on it and will trade in-play on Noble Mission

  17. Good job I punted for al k at 25’s e/w as well 🙂 thought he had it for a split second I was bouncing up n down in my lorry like I was riding him

  18. Many thanks for a very entertaining afternoon and for your magnificent freebie the Basic Monte Carlo’
This just shows that you dont have to spend a fortune on dodgy tipsters to make a healthy profit.
I didnt make a penny form my wins today as I only use the MC on races of 4-6 runners and so far in the first 10 days i am 50 points up. My main system luckily gave me the winner of the QE stakes so all in all a fantastic afternoons racxing.

    Cheers
    Stuart
