Racing Post winner Quinz in the National path

Philip Hobbs has revealed that his Racing Post Chase winner Quinz will be aimed at the Grand National.

Hobbs resisted the temptation of taking the gelding to Cheltenham for one of the Festival Handicaps after his Kempton win and he now has fresh horse to take into battle at Aintree in April.

Quinz is a good ground horse who likes to attack in his races, he will bounce of the likely fast ground and if he gets into a smooth jumping rhythm over the National fences he could prove to be the ideal type for the race and anyone with a Grand National free bet should remember this.

Another bonus for Quinz’s connections is the fact that the Grand National weights were revealed before the Racing Post Chase was run, which means that Quinz will be well treated at the weights. If the handicapper had the chance to issue him a weight for now, it’s likely the seven-year-old would be carrying at least 5lbs more and the Aintree Grand National betting indicates he could go well.

Hobbs has suggested that his Arkle winner Captain Chris is more likely to run at Punchestown than Aintree as he believed the right-handed track will be more in his favour. Hobbs’ other Festival winner Cheltenian is though expected to run in the Aintree bumper, so Hobbs could be a man to follow over the three days in Liverpool.
