Making A Profit Automatically

Guest post by Malcolm from GHB

Today we have a guest post from Malcolm at GreyHorse Bot. The GreyHorse Bot is software that allows you to automatically find selections or  to choose your own selections manually and have the bot place your bets throughout the day. It is one of the most comprehensive commercially available betting bots that I have seen and I hope that Malcolm will give us new profitable settings for it each month.

———————————————–

We have been doing a little test with the Grey Horse Bot over the last few months on the Greyhound markets.

These markets are quite interesting to watch even though they can be quite unpredictable and the prices can move very quickly.

We generally only look at the BAGS (Bookmakers Afternoon Greyhound Service) markets which run from about 11am to teatime, although now days it is usual to find evening BAGS meetings as well.

If you lay on these markets you will have to check if the evening markets are available on Betfair because often, the later evening ones are not. Betfair is also the best place to lay because they are the only exchange that has at least some liquidity on these markets.

Betdaq is a little strange the liquidity is a lot less than Betfair and they don’t make all the markets available in the morning, instead they bring the later ones in as the day progresses. Grey Horse Bot uses do get a Betdaq version which can handle this anomaly.

So anyway we have been playing around with this idea so I thought if I give you the settings, then you can have a look and decide if you want to give it a try or adapt it in some way.

For this system the Grey Horse Bot is in Auto mode and betting on Greyhounds (set in the options menu).
These are our settings regarding the rest of the options.

Please remember to change the stake and stop/loss settings to your choice.

We have been betting between 11am and 5pm and as you can see, we have been stopping at 7 pts profit or when we are in profit with 10 or less races to go.  Our stop loss is quite high but we have found we need to sometimes use this amount if we are to get back into profit.

One thing to point out here is that we think the odds range may be the key and although we are showing a small profit of about 14pts over about 3 months you will need to do some of your own testing to find out what works best.

I think we also stop too early. My feeling is that we should continue to bet until the end of racing rather than stop at 7pts. Again this is something that needs to be tested, which we will be doing shortly.

The latest version of the Grey Horse Bot allows you to use multiple bots on the same betfair account even betting on the same races, so you could certainly test a few ideas, especially as it allows you to bet under the Betfair £2.00 minimum (I didn’t tell you that) or in paper testing mode.

There is no doubt (as I have already mentioned) that the greyhound markets can be unpredictable but just the fact that there are so many races everyday, means that you have plenty of time to try out different ideas.

Whether you use a system like the one above to automatically select runners using the Grey Horse Bot or you select the runners manually after using some selection method (which the Grey Horse Bot can handle) you should certainly have a look to see if you can at least earn something from the greyhound markets.

Until next month.
