Sometimes when you are testing selections either from a tipster or from your own system you may want to test them on very low stakes before increasing your bankroll and betting bigger.
The minimum bet on Betfair is £2 which is not always low enough. However it is possible to bet below £2 on Betfair and I am going to show you how.
This method won’t work for any runners which have odds of 1000 or near. First of all you want to place a bet of £2 at odds of 1000. When you submit this bet you will get a warning, just press the OK button. Your bet won’t be matched because the odds on your horse are going to be significantly less than 1000.
As you can see above the bet has been Unmatched. You can now change either the odds or the stake on your bet. First of all we want to change the stake. We add to our stake whatever we actually want our bet to be. If we want to bet £0.50 then we change our stake to £2.50, if we want it to be £0.75 then we change our stake to £0.75. I will bet £0.50 and change the stake to £2.50.
What happens is that Betfair doesn’t actually adjust your stake, it adds the new stake as a new bet. In the image above you can see that we now have our original bet of £2 and our new bet of £0.50.
Now all we need to do is cancel our original £2 bet by pressing the red cross next to it and then changing the odds on the £0.50 bet to the odds that we are happy to accept. Press the submit button and your £2 bet will be cancelled and the £0.50 bet (or however much you wanted) will be placed.
Above you can see that our £0.50 bet has been placed. This should not be used for in-running betting as it takes a couple of minutes to get your bets placed but it is a simple and effective way of placing bets for less than £2 on Betfair
