5 Minute Race Analysis
Two and a half years ago I made a video which showed how to analyse a race in just three minutes. It has been one of the most popular posts on the blog but it was made before I had much experience in making videos and so…
…I thought it was time to redo it. I extended the time to five minutes in order to allow me time to talk through the process as well as do it. If you’ve watched any of my videos before, then you’ll know I like to talk 🙂 so the time still went very quickly.
The process is much clearer though and you may want to watch it a few times. I picked the first race of the day I recorded it, Friday the 3rd January 2014, and started recording the video around 6 minutes before the race started.

Hi Michael, I always look at your videos, but because of my hearing I cannot always follow them. This new one unfortunately is extra quiet. A pity that you cannot write instructions below it. Regards Jack Kenrick
I agree with Jack. Sound is so bad, very quiet and muffled, as to render the video pretty useless. A good case for sub-titles.

Thanks for the feedback. It looks like the sound has been taken a lot lower by YouTube when they encoded it. I have increased it now and we are re-uploading in the hope that the volume will now be at the correct level after YouTube have finished their encoding. I shall post when it has been uploaded again.
Sound is still a bit low but I can just make it out, Michael. Bonnie Fairy was a lay for winning females LTO, LOL.
Nice analysis process…if only it was that successful all the time!
All the best,
Eamon
Thanks Eamon, think you got to it just a couple of minutes before the new one finished uploading. The volume should be a lot louder now 🙂
comes up as private video & won’t play?
Please try again now Don.
hi michael, thanks for the video, which was interesting to watch, however unless im thick i dont see how you would have made 40 roi on the place bets.
you would have staked 2 units in total and only made .40 profit on the one bet,
so you would have had a minus of .60 unit over the two bets.
Hi George, the odds on the place winner were 2.41. We placed 2 units in total and returned 2.41 units. We remove our stake of 2 units for a 0.41 profit. Hope that clears it up 🙂
doh, of course sorry michael , thought it wass 1.41. do apologise,
regards
george
