Neptune Novices’ Hurdle

Yesterday was a great first days racing from the Cheltenham Festival 2014. Of the three major races that we reviewed for members of the Race Advisor Cheltenham 2014, we found a winner in Holywell at 13/1 BSP in the 14:40 Handicap Chase.

You can still join the Race Advisor Cheltenham 2014 members here for just £7 and get immediate access to race reviews of all fourteen major races during the festival.

Today there are three major races taking place, they are…

  • Neptune Novices’ Hurdle
  • The RSA Chase
  • Queen Mother Champion Chase

We have reviewed them all for members, and here today we are going to look at the Neptune Novices’ Hurdle which is being run at 13:30.

First of all let’s take a look at the key trends and past stats for this race.

It’s an interesting looking race and although only two favourites have won in the last 10 years, recent results would suggest that we look to the top end of the market for our winner.

On that basis, and looking at those horses that fit all of the trends, it is likely that the market has this spot on with both Faugheen and Red Sherlock heading the market.

The latter takes preference having run more recently and winning the trial for this race back in January. He also beat Rathvinden that day who falls down on several trends and looks opposable. He’s unbeaten in all his starts and, despite Pipe’s poor record in this race, takes the preference at a decent looking price for a horse that won comfortably in the trial.

And, there are another two major races today in the RSA Chase and the Queen Mother Champion Chase. Yesterday our key trends, stats and analysis found a 13/1 BSP winner,  so…

  1. Agree with Red Sherlock, @5/1 is hopefully an EW bet to nothing. Pipes have been talking him up, sound like they fancy him. Surely wont be out the top 3!!

  2. I gather the coffee is pretty strong in Istanbul?

Would be nice if Red Sherlock were to win in memory of David Johnson

  3. David Pipe has not had a winner on the second day of the festival. I realise these stats are there to be shot at, but my money’s on Faugheen.

  4. Faugheen gets my vote the wins he’s had were over better opponents in my opinion Ruby in the plate got to be worth a few extra yards no disrespect to Mr Scudamore 🙂
