Micro-Angles – Weekend Trainer Track Stats

Moving forward, this weekend sees some decent looking racing, weather permitting, with the 32Red Lanzarote Handicap Hurdle at Kempton over 2m 5f and the Grade 3 Betfred Classic Handicap Chase at Warwick, over a stamina-sapping 3m 5f, which is the best race run at that venue over the season. Here are some notable trainer stats from both those two races and tracks.

Kempton

Lanzarote Handicap Hurdle – 2m 5f

In the past 20 years, six trainers have won 60% of the renewals from just 26% of the runners. So should any of the trainers below have a runner they need to be kept onside:

Nick Williams – 3 winners from 3 runners 100% +17
Paul Nicholls – 3 winners from 15 runners +2.75 6 placed 40%
Venetia Williams – 2 winners from 13 runners 15% +1.75
Gary Moore – 2 winners from 14 runners 14% +16 4 placed 29%

Dan Skelton (Handicap Chases) – 7 winners from 17 runners +7.91 A/E 1.64 10 placed 59% – I wouldn’t rule out his longer priced runners as he has had a runner at 25/1 placed but when the money is down it’s worth noting he is – 7 winners from 10 runners 70% +14.91 A/E 1.87 8 placed 80% with horses going off 4/1 & under.

There we go a taster of some trainers whose runners will be worth checking at Kempton and Warwick on Saturday.

John Burke

I have a MA in International Politics and having spent a number of years working in political campaigning but I eventually I realised that politics was not the world where I wanted to work I had been interested in horse racing since the late 1980s but in the early years I was merely just betting and watching racing like most people as a bit of fun and a hobby, then the hobby becomes a passion and that’s what happened to me with horse racing. I soon realised that to make money from my hobby I had to learn as much as I could about the sport and betting in general. The whole process took time but after a number of successful years of betting, I decided in 2011 to take the plunge, gave up my full time day job and decided to bet on horse racing as a part time business and I haven’t looked back since. I like to specialise in the better class of races and I love to solve the puzzles posed by big field handicaps the latter races often provide punters with great value betting opportunities. Whilst most of my time is spent reviewing previous races I like to keep things as simple as possible as even the biggest field handicaps can usually be pruned down to half a dozen strong contenders with the right sort of approach.
