The five major races taking place today are…

  • JCB Triumph Hurdle
  • Albert Bartlett Novices’ Hurdle
  • Cheltenham Gold Cup
  • CGA Foxhunter Chase

On the blog today we are going to look at the JCB Triumph Hurdle which is being run at 13:30.

First of all let’s take a look at the key trends and past stats for this race.

Past Winners

JCB Triumph Hurdle 1

Key Trends

  • 10/10 winners last ran between 19 and 55 days ago
  • 9/10 winners have won at least 50% of their hurdles races
  • 8/10 winners won last time out
  • 8/10 winners have won two or three times over hurdles

At the time of writing the current entries in this race are:

JCB Triumph Hurdle 2

We have three horses that fit the trends in this race and they are Calipto, Guitar Pete and Pearl Castle.

With the exception of 2012, this race has resulted in the top end of the market claiming the victories and our three qualifiers being near the top of the market indicates we’re on the right tracks!

Preference goes to John Quinns Pearl Castle having won comfortably on his last two starts, most notably in a big field at Doncaster earlier in January. He will find this race a lot tougher, but matching the trends, and John Quinn having won this the year before last, he gets the vote as an e/w bet.
