Betfred Review
[review]
Betfred was named after it’s founders Fred and Peter Done who opened their first shop in 1967 in Ordsall, Salford. Nearly 40 years later their reported turnover now exceeds over £3.5 billion and they have a chain of shops of more than 1,350. Their growth has been a phenomenal success and in 2011 Betfred bought the Tote in a deal worth £265 million.
Having risen to almost celebrity status Fred “Betfred” has certainly gone out of his way to be at the top of his game and provide customers with the best possible betting experience. Offering the pretty much standard £25 matched bet when signing up they offer all the expected channels from an on-line bookmaker.
Featuring their sports book which covers every single sport imaginable they also offer, casino, games, poker, bingo, lottery and of course the Tote. Most of these also offer various first time deposit bonuses.
Once signed up however it’s noted that they’re lacking in ongoing promotions that offer any kind of value to the customer. They offer best odds guaranteed, as should any reputable bookmaker nowadays, however the majority of their concessions are based on Lucky 15’s and similar bets. Get one winner in your Lucky 15 and they’ll treble the odds which usually covers the total stake of the bet.
Their horse racing prices are often some of the last prices to go up, which is poor in today’s highly competitive market. Their BOG can be hard to get value on in the early morning markets as they copycat the other bookmakers prices.
Customer support is very good. They don’t offer a Live Chat facility, however they can be called on a freephone number and with dedicated support staff to cover each platform they are quick to resolve any issues that the customer may have. They also have relevant e-mail addresses dependent on your enquiry and their reply is usually within 12 hours.
Deposits and withdrawals are industry standard and can be processed within the usual time. They are of course governed by the standard bodies and can are trusted brand so no worries on the money front.
Overall Betfred are a reputable bookmaker and should be part of anyones portfolio but don’t expect Fred to be too generous as he makes out!
