Betfair Group plc is the worlds biggest internet betting exchange. The company was founded in the year 2000 by an Andrew Black and Edward Wray and the 14 years since its inception it has grown to be one of the most notable places for punters to bet.
They have grown massively around the world and, according to latest figures, they now have nearly 45% of all of their revenue coming from outside of the UK.
In 2010 the company was floated on the London Stock Exchange with a share price of ÂŁ13, valuing them at ÂŁ1.4bn. It is reported that since then their customer base has increased to over 4 million and they are turning over in excess of ÂŁ50 million per week.
They offer not only the exchange that can provide up to 20% better prices than any other bookmakers, but their own sports book as well.
Having an account with Betfair can offer the punter a plethora of ways to bet. With the exchange offering the ability to not only back outcomes in thousands of different markets but also lay (bet on the outcome to lose) them Betfair has revolutionised the way we bet.
Using the exchange allows you to trade and put yourselfinto profitable situations and minimise your risk. Betfair also provide an education section on their website that offers any customer the opportunity to learn how to utilise the exchange to their full advantage.
More recently Betfair have opened their own sports book and offer their customers fixed odds betting. They offer markets parallel to their exchange and one can bet on literally hundreds of sporting events.
They’ve also added the “Price Rush” [TM], so when placing your bets through the sports book if the price has increased on the exchange they will match you at a better price.
Through the sports book customers can also place some of the more popular bets such as accumulators, Lucky 15’s etc.. but, with the accumulators, you can cash out after the first leg!
This gives you more control over your betting and makes Betfair one of the better places to bet.
They also offer all the usually expected betting mediums such as poker, casino, arcades and slots.
Customer support is excellent and they can be contacted 7 days a week from 07.30am till 12.30am (UK time). Offering live chat through to a helpline the staff are knowledgable and helpful. You can even tweet them!
Betfair is an absolute must for any punter and with so many options available to customers they have to be a part of your betting portfolio.
