Paddy Power Review
[review]
Paddy Power, as the name suggest’s, originated in Ireland. Offline it conducts it’s business via a chain of licensed betting offices throughout the UK and Ireland. They also operate Ireland’s largest telephone betting service. On-line they have five betting channels consisting of sports betting, online poker, bingo, casino and spread betting. The company was formed in 1988 by the merger of three Irish bookmakers Stewart Kenny, David Power and John Corcoran. Of the three bookmakers, David Power’s outfit was considered to have the strongest presence and Paddy Power was born.
They have continued to grow as a company and are listed on both the Irish and the UK stock exchanges having developed an aggressive expansion strategy. This paid off after 6 years and, as of 2011, they became the largest bookmaker in Europe by total share value.
To entice new customers they offer a free £20 bet for simply depositing and betting £10. This isn’t the best on the market, but they do however have some of the best on-going promotions and concessions in the industry to encourage continued betting through their brands.
Their money back offers are exceptional, with one race a day where the player can receive their stake back should their horse come 2nd or 3rd. They offer similar concessions on many other sports and notably the recent Masters tournament saw them refund on 2nd and 3rd place. On bigger races they offer better place terms often paying out on an extra place.
They offer all the usual sports to bet on, ranging from horse racing, football, right through to American sports and special events. These extensive markets means that there’s something for everyone and punters can often find enticing money back specials that make their bets go further.
The downside is that their prices can be a little tight in comparison with other competitors, but this can be overcome by betting early as they will often be inline with others before 10am. With their best odds guarantee as standard, this almost becomes an obsolete problem for those willing to place their bets first thing.
They have a dedicated help and contact page which has many questions with pre written answers that can prove helpful for any minor problems. This is backed up by a live chat facility 24/7 and a freephone number. Their average response time is 21 seconds, which is exemplary, and staff are polite and knowledgable in their assistance.
Overall Paddy Power is an exceptional bookmaker and is a must have in anyone’s portfolio.
